CVCL is committed to ensuring the children we serve develop a strong cultural identity and keep a connection to their family. Day trips are organized so children can see their family and participate in cultural activities hosted by their community or ethnic group.
CVCL are inclusive of all cultures. Some of the events we attend with our kids are local powwows, concerts, festivals, weekend camping, hiking trips, summer camp and other learning opportunities such as visiting the UBC Museum of Anthropology, Vancouver Art Gallery and local tourist activities. CVCL values the importance of passing down traditional knowledge and host workshops where Elders in the community come and share their teachings on language, music, art, fishing, hunting and weaving. CVCL encourages cultural diversity and although each child’s cultural heritage is focused on their own, we also explore other cultures to promote a greater understanding and acceptance of our differences.
